Do You Really Need a Buyer's Agent in Murrieta?
By Laura Holbert & Cheryl Shadden · October 27, 2026 · 2 min read
When you see a home you like, it can be tempting to just call the listing agent and go from there. It sounds simpler, but it is worth understanding what that choice actually means before you make it.
The listing agent represents the seller. Their job is to get the seller the best price and terms, and they are legally obligated to that side of the deal. If you walk into a transaction with no one representing you, you are handling your side on your own, even if the paperwork feels easy.
A buyer's agent represents you. In California, we act in your best interest, negotiate on your behalf, and help you understand everything from offers and disclosures to inspections and escrow. We also know the local market, what comparable homes have sold for, and what a fair offer really looks like.
Here is what most people do not realize: in many cases, a buyer's agent is compensated from the seller's side as part of the transaction, which means it often does not come out of your pocket. We are happy to explain exactly how that works in your situation.
None of this means every situation is identical. What we want is for you to make the choice with your eyes open, knowing who is on which side of the table. If you are thinking about buying, we would love to talk through your situation, no pressure at all.
